New Home... New Beginnings

Last Friday we closed on our new home in Beavercreek, OH. We have been working very hard to make it our own before we officially move in. In fact just after closing we went to the house and began ripping up all the carpet right away. All of the carpet is gone as well as the crazy planter that was built next to the fireplace. It was highly satisfying to rip it up and reveal some beautiful hardwood floors. We do have a bit of a trouble patch where the planter was next to the fireplace but a rug might just do the trick until we can properly fix the floor boards there.

Micah's room was chosen to be painted first because once his room is done we can actually stay the night there. We have had some major setbacks in his room unfortunately. The old paint is cracked in some areas and while painting over it it began peeling off in huge sections! This happened even after we thought we had fixed it by sanding and priming those areas. Now we have mudded over those areas to prevent any more peeling. We didn't want to do this as the walls are textured and we can't duplicate that but we really had no other choice. So once the mud is completely dry we will move along with the painting and will hopefully have his room finished by the end of this weekend. I have been so busy working on the house I forgot to take pictures of the works in progress but I will be sure to snap some soon.

Here are pictures of the house from October during our home inspection:

Fall Fun

I love the fall and all the fun traditions that come with it. This year we get to spend the fall with our family which has been really fun. We took Micah to the pumpkin patch at Young's with his cousins, Uncle Sam, Aunt Rachel, and Grandma and Grandpa Warden. It was freezing! We didn't realize it would be so cold and had to make do with insufficient jackets but it was still fun. Even though it was cold we still got ice cream because you can't go to Young's without getting ice cream. In Nebraska we went to Valas every year and I was missing that a bit but Micah doesn't know the difference.

Fall also means Nathan's birthday. Nathan is quickly making his way to the big 3-0. Only 3 more years left in the 20's! We had a very quiet laid back celebration with just the three of us. Micah really enjoyed getting to have some cake.

And of course I can't forget Micah's first Trick or Treating. Micah joined his cousins Violet and Beatrice at Grandma and Grandpa Warden's place. He was a lion and I must say he was the cutest lion I have ever seen! Okay so I'm a bit biased but you can judge for yourself. He had a great time. When we asked: "What does a lion say?" Micah would let out the most ferocious "Roar!" he could muster. That was a real crowd pleaser. He got lots of candy which Mommy and Daddy are kindly getting rid of for him. :) He did get to enjoy some fruit snacks though.

Tomorrow is a special day for us as we are closing on our home. Second home overall but first home in Ohio. We can't wait to have a place of our own again. Hope you all are enjoying your fall traditions as well. Click here to see the rest of our fall pictures.
