Catching up

Wow! It has been way too long since we posted on here. We have lots of catching up to do. So much has happened since moving into our new home last fall. We have made slow progress in our house projects but are moving right along. Slow and steady wins the race right? As of today all bedrooms are painted!

Last winter we lost a baby at about 8 weeks pregnant. It was a very tough thing for me but God's hand was with me through it all and as always He proved faithful. I will never forget being in the ER as I was being checked out. I laid in the bed alone for a few moments and whispered tearfully to God the words from "Praise You in this Storm". No matter what was happening I knew He'd be there and He was.

Two months after losing our baby God blessed us with this new little one. We are so overjoyed to be expecting this healthy little girl. The miracle of life is not something I will ever take lightly. Children are such a sweet gift from God and I am so thankful for my Micah and our baby girl. I will be 25 weeks tomorrow which means we get to meet our girl in only 15 weeks!

Micah turned 2 about two weeks ago! Where did the time go. He's getting so big. He is currently in his room playing "choo choo Thomas" with his Daddy. Choo choo's are his favorite thing right now. We are in the process of preparing his "big boy" room right now. Hopefully by next month he will be in a new toddler bed in his new room.

Well... that was a long and rambling post but I think it caught this blog up to date. Here are some pics of the updates we have done to our home so far. Will post pics of Micah's party soon.

New Home... New Beginnings

Last Friday we closed on our new home in Beavercreek, OH. We have been working very hard to make it our own before we officially move in. In fact just after closing we went to the house and began ripping up all the carpet right away. All of the carpet is gone as well as the crazy planter that was built next to the fireplace. It was highly satisfying to rip it up and reveal some beautiful hardwood floors. We do have a bit of a trouble patch where the planter was next to the fireplace but a rug might just do the trick until we can properly fix the floor boards there.

Micah's room was chosen to be painted first because once his room is done we can actually stay the night there. We have had some major setbacks in his room unfortunately. The old paint is cracked in some areas and while painting over it it began peeling off in huge sections! This happened even after we thought we had fixed it by sanding and priming those areas. Now we have mudded over those areas to prevent any more peeling. We didn't want to do this as the walls are textured and we can't duplicate that but we really had no other choice. So once the mud is completely dry we will move along with the painting and will hopefully have his room finished by the end of this weekend. I have been so busy working on the house I forgot to take pictures of the works in progress but I will be sure to snap some soon.

Here are pictures of the house from October during our home inspection:

Fall Fun

I love the fall and all the fun traditions that come with it. This year we get to spend the fall with our family which has been really fun. We took Micah to the pumpkin patch at Young's with his cousins, Uncle Sam, Aunt Rachel, and Grandma and Grandpa Warden. It was freezing! We didn't realize it would be so cold and had to make do with insufficient jackets but it was still fun. Even though it was cold we still got ice cream because you can't go to Young's without getting ice cream. In Nebraska we went to Valas every year and I was missing that a bit but Micah doesn't know the difference.

Fall also means Nathan's birthday. Nathan is quickly making his way to the big 3-0. Only 3 more years left in the 20's! We had a very quiet laid back celebration with just the three of us. Micah really enjoyed getting to have some cake.

And of course I can't forget Micah's first Trick or Treating. Micah joined his cousins Violet and Beatrice at Grandma and Grandpa Warden's place. He was a lion and I must say he was the cutest lion I have ever seen! Okay so I'm a bit biased but you can judge for yourself. He had a great time. When we asked: "What does a lion say?" Micah would let out the most ferocious "Roar!" he could muster. That was a real crowd pleaser. He got lots of candy which Mommy and Daddy are kindly getting rid of for him. :) He did get to enjoy some fruit snacks though.

Tomorrow is a special day for us as we are closing on our home. Second home overall but first home in Ohio. We can't wait to have a place of our own again. Hope you all are enjoying your fall traditions as well. Click here to see the rest of our fall pictures.

Ch-ch-changes!

Well things have certainly changed for us in these last few months! We vacationed in Ohio in July only to find out upon our return to Omaha that we would be moving back to Ohio very soon. We put our house on the market and by the grace of God it sold in six days! We packed up and moved back to Ohio in what seemed like record time. We arrived at my parents on August 28th and are staying here until we get into our new place. We should close on our new home in Beavercreek, OH sometime in mid-November.

Everything has been a whirlwind and it doesn't quite seem real as we are still living out of suitcases at my folks' place. It has been so nice to see Micah getting to know his grandparents and cousins. As much as we are happy to raise Micah with his family we are also very sad to leave Omaha. We miss all of our friends there and our church too. Omaha really was two of the best years of our lives and we will never forget all the great times we had there.

Here are links to some pictures from the past few months:

Happy 1st Birthday Micah!

I can't believe it has been a year already! I am so thankful to God for the wonderful blessings of being a mommy. We had a blast celebrating yesterday with friends. Micah had a great time and is loving all of his new toys. Next we are off to Ohio for a couple weeks to visit with the family. It has been way too long. Can't wait to see everyone!!!!

1 year Portraits

We went to get his 1 year portraits taken today. They are so cute I could hardly choose but this is my favorite. Such a great profile! Hopefully I will get them back before our trip.
